Hello and Welcome
My name is Steven.
I have had asthma and eczema since I was five. I have spent lots of time in and out of hospital, seeing specialists and dermatologists.
When I was younger I enjoyed the extra attention of my family and didn’t think anything of the numerous visits to hospital or having to stay home. I used to think yay no school!
As I become older and entered my teens that changed. I began to realise the limitations of what I could do. I started missing out on social events because my chest was bad. I became shy and withdrawn when my eczema flared up, because I get eczema on my face and hands so its impossible to hide.
I was missing out on socialising and meeting new friends .
As the years went on I barley left the house aside from going to school.
I started college but I dropped out because I had not developed any social skills in school I found it excruciating trying to make friends and with eczema on my face to boot I felt terrible all the time.
I was at a very low point, but dropping out of college turned out to be the best thing for me.
I got a job working as a trainee lab technician for a pharmaceutical company, which I loved. I met a fantastic girl who changed my whole world. She didn’t care about me not being able to do sports or go on long hikes. She didn’t care about the eczema flare ups on my face. And you know what? I stopped caring too.
I decided to stop feeling bad and find ways to reduce the effects of my conditions.
I have created this site to share what I have found over the last 20 years to hopefully help people who are also suffering or know someone who is suffering from conditions similar to me.
